Children’s Choirs

Music plays a vital role in the liturgy at St. Thomas. The participation in choir offers the unique opportunity for the children to grow in their faith as well as impact their families, church, and community. St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music in America.

Cantate Choir (Grades 1 and 2)

The Cantate Choir rehearses on Mondays (3:25-4:15 pm) and sings monthly at the 9:00 am Sunday Mass and also at Christmas Eve and Easter Masses. At the end of the spring semester, the choristers present a concert or musical. Emphasis is given to developing the singing voice, rhythmic literacy and overall musicianship.

Jubilate Choir (Grades 3, 4 and 5)

The Jubilate Choir rehearses on Tuesdays (3:30-4:30 pm) and sings monthly at the 9:00 am Sunday Mass and also at the Christmas Eve and Easter Masses. They participate in several concerts and festivals throughout the year and present a concert or musical in May. Emphasis is given to healthy singing, rhythmic literacy and overall musicianship. The choristers participate in The Royal School of Church Music Voice for Life curriculum. There are five levels of ribbons and the awarding of each ribbon represents the successful completion of specific requirements in the areas of music theory, music history, and liturgy.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Boys’ Choir (Grades 6, 7 and 8)

The St. Thomas Aquinas Boys’ Choir rehearses on Thursdays (3:30-4:30 pm) and sings monthly at the 12:45 pm Sunday Mass as well as Christmas Eve and Easter. They will serve as the resident choir for the St. Thomas Aquinas School Mass. The choristers participate in The Royal School of Church Music Voice for Life curriculum.There are five levels of ribbons and the awarding of each ribbon represents the successful completion of specific requirements in the areas of music theory, music history, and liturgy.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Girls’ Choir (Grades 6, 7 and 8)

The St. Thomas Aquinas Girls’ Choir rehearses on Fridays (3:30-4:30 pm) and sings monthly at the 12:45 pm Sunday Mass as well as Christmas Eve and Easter. On early release days, they rehearse immediately after school until 1:30 pm. They will join with the St. Thomas Aquinas Boys’ Choir to serve as the resident choir for the St. Thomas Aquinas School Mass. The choristers participate in The Royal School of Church Music Voice for Life curriculum.There are five levels of ribbons and the awarding of each ribbon represents the successful completion of specific requirements in the areas of music theory, music history, and liturgy.
