| Fifty
years ago, when Msgr. John T. Gulczynski asked the school mothers to
organize an essential altar society, the newly established St. Thomas
Aquinas Parish had no church and only a makeshift altar in the
Auditorium/Gym of the six-year-old Cathedral School No. 2.
Thriving together in the Catholic community, our parish and parochial
school now rank among the largest in the Diocese of Dallas. Our Lady's
Altar Society continues to serve the Lord in His house.
Today, we invite a new generation of women and men of the parish to
join us. Our membership is made up of smaller groups, or circles. We
meet on the third Tuesday, from September to May. Individual circles
meet informally, as friends, who share spirituality, common interests,
and various projects. Circles are asked to support various altar
society activities such as: parish events, occasionally hosting a
reception for a general meeting, and arrange church cleaning related to
the Mass and liturgical vestments.
The Altar Society is a dynamic group here to support our parish
community and have a little fun along the way. Join us for a meeting or
event and see for yourself what we're all about. |
