Online Annual Awareness Update Programs

(This page is only for previously cleared volunteers. If you have not been cleared as a volunteer at STA click here.)

Select one of the three programs below. The description provided will help select a program most interesting to you. You need only complete one of the programs to satisfy your Annual Awareness Update requirements.

All Light Blue badges expire on April 1, 2010, regardless of when Safe Environment training was done to receive this badge. All holders of the Light Blue badge must complete one of the following programs, or attend a Family of Faith session, to maintain their cleared status. The 2010 Green badges will expire on April 1, 2011.

The Diocese will no longer accept as update training a program that an individual has used repeatedly for update training purposes. Please select a new program when updating your training! All volunteers who are cleared for the next year will receive their badges in the mail. Please NEVER ASSUME that you are cleared if you have not received the Green 2010 badge. Internet Danger

This is a 32 minute video produced by the Dioscese of Dallas with segments from our own parish. This video will help you gain a better awareness of some of the dangers that are always around in our society.

Domestic Violence Training

This program involves reading material that describes types of domestic violence, signs of abuse, and ways to prevent/end domestic violence.

I Keep Safe—Internet Safety Training

This is a 16 minute video produced by the Office of the Texas Attorney General that offers advice on how to protect children who use the internet from the real risks posed by other internet users.

Adult Abuse

This program involves reading material and a short video. The training seeks to raise awareness of the health and safety concerns facing vulnerable adults.

Protecting Your Children from Harm

This program involves a 24 minute video produced by the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. The video addresses issues of childhood sexual abuse, including practical tips for protecting children from sexual abuse.

What Can We Do About Child Abuse?

This program is a 22 minute video produced by the Texas Attorney General’s Office. The program highlights mandatory reporting requirements along with examples of the right and wrong way to respond to a child who discloses abuse.
