A Letter from a Grateful Soldier

September 10, 2004

Dear St. Thomas,

I would like to thank all of you very much for the wonderful box of items you sent. The letters from the St. Thomas  School children are very touching and  they mean a great deal to me and the other soldiers here. Your support and prayers are very much appreciated. May God end this war soon and bring us all home safely. God bless you and all the wonderful people of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

Signed,

Major Carlos Miramontes

This is a letter from Iraq in response to the cards from the St. Thomas School and boxes from St. Thomas Aquinas Parish mailed by the St.Vincent de Paul Society. Some troops have returned home safely from Iraq and Afghanistan but others have gone over. Service personnel in this country stand guard over our nation at bases around our country. Their names as well as the troops overseas are added to the Book of Remembrance that is placed on the altar and they are remembered at all Masses. We stand in awe of these men and women, some of them will never be returning home, who continue to fight for the freedom of our people and this country.
