Saint Thomas Aquinas Choir
Dedicated
men and women, with a love of fine choral literature, rehearse on
Thursday evenings (7:15 - 9:15) September through June in order to offer our parish
an eclectic repertoire of choral works that span six hundred years
of musical history. Compositions are sung in their original language
with a significant portion of the repertory in Latin. In 1998 they
performed in Italy at the Basilica of Saint Peter, Rome; the Basilica
of Saint Francis, Assisi; and the Church of the Holy Trinity, Florence. In 2002, the choir performed in Spain, with one performance at Montserrat and two performances in Madrid.
The Saint Thomas Aquinas Choir is the primary
choir for the 11 AM Sunday Mass. The choir admits new members in
the fall and spring with an audition with the choirmaster. An introductory
meeting with the choirmaster and choral singing experience, as well
as an ability to read musical notation is necessary for initial acceptance.
Consistent, regular attendance is an important requirement of continued
membership.
