Saint Francis de Sales Ensemble
Each
week this ensemble of singers and instrumentalists prepares and
offers music composed by musicians that have flourished
since Vatican II. They perform most of the repertoire in the vernacular
and they explore musical traditions from around the world. Parish
members enjoy the varied repertoire at the Christmas Eve Concert
as this program explores Christmas music-making from countries
such as China, Mexico, Canada, and England. During Lent, the choir sings
a Taizé Concert for one of the Lenten Meditations. The
Saint Francis de Sales Ensemble serves as the primary choir for
the 9am Sunday Mass. They will be lending their support to the children
and youth choirs during the Family Mass. Michael Conrady is their director.
The ensemble accepts new members, at certain points
throughout the year, with audition and an introductory meeting
with the choirmaster. Pervious musical experience is essential and
ability to read music helpful. Consistent, regular attendance is
an important requirement of membership. We are blessed with a core
of instrumentalists that provide accompaniment to the anthems as
well as provide solos and duets throughout the year.
