Schola Cantorum Gregorii

One of the greatest treasures of the Western Church, Gregorian Chant has always been held up by the church fathers as the music most appropriate for the liturgy of the Roman Rite. The Vatican II constitution on the liturgy, Sacrosanctum Concilium, states, “The Church acknowledges Gregorian chant as specially suited to the Roman liturgy; therefore, other things being equal, it should be given pride of place in liturgical services.” (SC. 116).

Each Saturday afternoon the Schola Cantorum Gregorii studies and rehearses Gregorian Chant repertoire for performance for Mass and in concert. This small ensemble sings at the Saturday 4:00 pm Mass. An audition as well as prior choral experience are prerequisites for membership. Their rehearsals are at 3 pm Saturdays throughout the entire year. Consistent, regular attendance is required for continued membership.  For more information, please contact Michael Conrady, choirmaster Click to send an email..
