2008 Debt Reduction Program
From its beginnings more than half a century ago, the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish has benefited from the generosity and confidence of its parishioners willing to invest and make sacrifices for the growth of our church and the outreach of our Faith. The success of our Parish is supported through the strong foundation established by our forefathers; “like a wise man who built his house on rock… it did not collapse” Matthew 7: 24–25. This foundation is represented in part through our wonderful facilities, which benefit each of us and our mission.
Over the past decade, our Parish has successfully completed two major capital programs including construction of St. Anne Hall, the gymnasium and the Lower School Campus acquisition and improvements. These expansions and upgrades provide physical and spiritual benefits as well as a safe, quality, nurturing and joyful environment for our parishioners of all ages and interests.
While past capital fundraising programs for our expansion were successful, they fell short in achieving the total investment needed. As a result, we as a Parish carry an accumulated debt of $3.3 million. While it is not unusual for Church communities to assume debt, our Parish Finance Council wishes to maintain the highest level of fiscal health and flexibility for our future. It is for this reason that an appeal is made to each of you for your help in eliminating our outstanding debt.
The pamphlet at the link on the right describes the projects which were built from the combined parishioner donations and debt, the benefits to our Parish community and how you can help with our Parish’s fiscal stability and positioning for the future.
Just as our forefathers followed Jesus’ instructions to be like a wise man who built his house on rock, we too must ensure the decisions and actions we make today are focused on strengthening the foundation for future generations. Please consider how your involvement today will help St. Thomas Aquinas continue to be the rock for our community.
