Requirement to return to Mass
postponed in the Diocese of Dallas
In light of the recent surge in COVID cases and concern about the spread of the Delta variant, Bishop Edward Burns has postponed reinstating the requirement for Catholics to attend Mass in person in the Diocese of Dallas.
The following is an excerpt from a letter from our Auxiliary Bishop, Bishop Gregory Kelly. It is regarding the Hyde Amendment which is important in protecting a culture of life in our nation and in our world. I ask you, as a member of the parish community and school community to please to give this your attention. Please make this a response to the prophetic call spoken of in Sunday’s readings:
“Go, prophesy to my people” - Amos 7:15
Please pray for our Church, our parish and our nation.
Thank you and God bless
From Bishop Kelly:
As you may know, the proposed federal budget for the coming year seeks to eliminate the Hyde Amendment.
This amendment, in place for 45 years with bipartisan support, has prohibited the use of federal funds for abortion.
The Hyde Amendment is credited with saving the lives of millions of children.
Many in Congress are now calling for the elimination of this Amendment and the implementation of a policy that would designate substantial taxpayer dollars for elective abortions.
Pope Francis has said, “it is troubling to see how simple and convenient it has become for some to deny the existence of a human life as a solution to problems that can and must be solved for both the mother and her unborn child.” He notes that abortion “is not a primarily religious issue but one of human ethics.”
Would you consider signing the petition opposing the elimination of the Hyde Amendment?
