Friday of the 21st Week in Ordinary Time and the Memorial of St. Augustine

Shalom, Y’All:

Welcome to Friday of the 21st Week in Ordinary Time and, get this…one day after we celebrated the Memorial of St. Monica, today we celebrate the Memorial of her son St. Augustine.  How cool is that?  Mother and son saints celebrated one day apart!

The link to today’s readings are here: Click Here for Today's Readings.

Our video today…a reflection on and prayer to The Sacred Heart of Jesus…is available now on our Facebook page.  You can get to our Facebook page by going to our website (link is above) and then clicking on the Facebook link at the top of the website home page.

The reflection includes the song “Holy is His Name,” which comes from Mary’s words in her Canticle during her encounter with Elizabeth.

I thought you might like to see this.  Here is a picture of an intriguing statue of Mary and Elizabeth at the Church of the Visitation in Ein Karem in Israel:

The Visitation

Behind them are some of the plaques in many, many languages containing the Magnificat.  Each time we go there we stand at the wall and pray the Magnificat together and proclaim those words: “Holy is His name.”  (Luke 1: 46-55 for the full Canticle)

So, we hope you are blessed by the reflection today, and we look forward to seeing you this weekend for Mass…either in person on Sunday or via the Live-Stream 10:30 Mass.  You can sign up for Mass on our webpage.

I hope to have the 10:30 AM Mass Worship Aid for you tomorrow morning.

Blessings to all.

Your servant in Christ,

Deacon Ken
