Saturday of the 29th Week in Ordinary Time and the Optional Memorial of St. Anthony Mary Claret
Greetings Dear STA Parishioners and Special Friends:
Welcome to Saturday of the 29th Week in Ordinary Time and the Optional Memorial of St. Anthony Mary Claret. Today’s readings can be found if you Click Here for Today's Readings .
As usual for Saturdays, we have a reflection and prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows. That reflection includes a beautiful version of Stabat Mater and that is followed by the Ave Maria.
TODAY I HAVE SOMETHING NEW TO INTRODUCE TO YOU.
I have prayerfully considered this and so I hope I have heard correctly and that it is indeed the Lord’s desire that I share this with you.
In the past several years, I have been led a Chapel Service for our Pre-K 4 and 5-year-olds at STA Lower School. It is always a profound blessing for me to be with them each Friday.
Needless to say…all of that has changed this year.
Instead of meeting in person, I have been producing a video for their teachers to use in the classrooms. The teachers can send the link home to the parents if they desire to do so.
Here is a really fun part of these Pre-K and Kinder videos: I have created a couple of characters to help me out each week in teaching the kids the responses to the prayers for the Chapel Service which are, of course, the same responses to the prayers at Mass.
My two helpers are two of my “friends from Israel”…Baa, a sheep, and Cammy, a camel! They do the prayer responses and share a few things during the teachings when invited to do so. You will, of course, need to watch the video to see what the heck I am talking about. (Baa is the helper in this week’s video.)
So, I thought maybe some of you who have kids or grandkids who don’t go to STA might like to take a look at these videos and then share with the kids. These videos are always for the upcoming Sunday, so the one I am sharing with you today is about tomorrow’s Gospel on the 2 greatest commandments.
If you have a moment, please take a look at the video and see what you think. You can find it if you click here: Click Here to See the STA Pre-K and Kinder Chapel Service. You can copy and share the link with family and friends.
I really hope these are helpful for you in preparing the kids for Sunday Mass. I will do the same thing next Saturday for next Sunday’s Mass.
And now to Sunday:
Before we end today, here is a bit of info on our Saint of the Day: St. Anthony Mary Claret:
Ordained in 1835, Anthony Claret was appointed apostolic missionary to his native region of Spain, Catalonia, where he founded the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (the Claretians) for the work of evangelization. Shortly thereafter he was appointed Archbishop of Santiago, Cuba, an assignment he did not want. “My spirit goes out to all the world,” he told the apostolic nuncio. Yet, after prayer, discernment, and consultation with friends, Anthony accepted. At his episcopal ordination, he added “Mary” to his name: “She is my Mother, my protector, my teacher, my all, after Jesus.” After six years of fruitful work in Cuba, he was recalled to serve Queen Isabella in Spain. He died in 1870.
I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday and I hope to see you at Mass tomorrow…either live and in person or on the Live-Stream broadcast at 10:30 tomorrow.
Blessings to all.
Your servant in Christ,
