Thursday of the 23rd Week in Ordinary Time

Greetings Dear STA Parishioners and Special Friends:

Welcome to Thursday of the 23rd Week in Ordinary Time.  Here is a link to the readings for today: Click Here for Today's Readings.

Yours truly is the celebrant and homilist for today, and the meditation at the end of the Liturgy of the Word is a prayer to our Guardian Angels.  I think you might agree that we do indeed need them watching over us these days.

I have to begin today with a confession…I made an error in yesterday’s email.  I talked about the Beatitudes from yesterday’s Gospel as having taken place at the Mt. of Beatitudes.  What I overlooked was that the Gospel reading for yesterday was from the Gospel of Luke.

In the Gospel of Luke, this series of teachings, including the Beatitudes, took place during the Sermon on the Plain.  Today’s reading is a continuation of that Sermon on the Plain.

The Sermon on the Mount was in Matthew’s Gospel, and it took place on the Mt. of Beatitudes.  The message was basically the same in both places, just different Gospel writers with different audiences.  Either way or either place, the message delivered by Jesus is so profoundly important to us as followers of Christ.

So, please go to our Facebook page and check out today’s Liturgy of the Word and reflection video.  We hope, as always, that you are blessed by the message today and will share it with family and friends.

And, if you know of anyone who does not receive these emails but would like to, please send me their name and email and I will put them on the list.

Blessings to all.

Your servant in Christ,

Deacon Ken
