The Office of Evangelization and Discipleship seeks to partner with the family in making disciples of Jesus Christ through forming hearts and minds in the Christ-centered teachings, devotions, and sacramental life of the Catholic Church.
For students that are actively involved in faith formation, 1st Communion is typically offered in the student’s 2nd grade year usually in May and Confirmation is typically offered in the 8th grade year usually in November. Normally, the child receiving the sacrament is expected to be enrolled in faith formation classes of some form in at least two consecutive years: both in the year the sacrament is given and in the previous year as well. See more information about classes. This is because the sacramental preparation presupposes a base and a framework that students obtain in previous year(s). All students and adults are expected to be actively involved in some form of faith formation (formal or non-formal) each year. Growing in a relationship with God is an ongoing, lifelong process like other relationships we have.
